Andreas Kurz (musician)

Andreas Kurz (* 1979 ) is a German jazz musician ( bass , composition ).

Live and act

Briefly studied double bass at the Munich University of Music and Theater with Klaus Trumpf and at the Richard Strauss Conservatory with Paulo Cardoso . Before starting his studies he was a member of the Bavarian State Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Federal Jazz Orchestra .

Then he was a member of Martin Auer's quartet and Harald Rüschenbaum's orchestra and Tim Allhoff's trio . Currently he also played in the quintet of Geoff Goodman and Matthieu Bordenave . In 2014 his debut album Caught into Something Turning was released with his own compositions. In the course of his career he played with greats such as Benny Golson , Rick Margitza , Vincent Herring , Don Friedman , Lynne Arriale , Dusko Goykovich and Nicolas Simion . He is documented on more than 30 albums, u. a. at Tied & Tickled Trio , Max Mutzke , Torsten Goods , Max Frankl , Johanna Schneider and Matthias Lindermayr .

Prizes and awards

In 2009 Andreas Kurz was awarded the Bavarian Art Prize. With Tim Allhoff's trio, he won the New German Jazz Prize in 2010 and the ECHO Jazz (2011).
