Matthieu Bordenave

Matthieu Bordenave (* 1983 in Tarbes ) is a French jazz musician ( saxophones , clarinets , composition).

Live and act

Bordenave first took classical saxophone lessons in Christian Charnay's class at the Annecy Conservatory before moving to Paris at the age of 17, where he took jazz saxophone lessons in André Villéger's class. He then studied at the National Conservatory (CNSM) in the jazz and improvised music department. He also took bass clarinet lessons from Jean-Marc Volta and Philippe-Olivier Deveaux. He completed workshops with Chris Potter , Louis Sclavis , Paolo Fresu and Marc Johnson . In 2008 he completed his master's degree with Leszek Zadlo at the Munich University of Music and Theater .

In 2011 he released his debut album with his own quartet. Since 2014 he has been under contract with the Enja label with the bassless trio “Le Café Bleu International” ; so far three albums have been created. Together with the guitarist Geoff Goodman , he leads a quintet that released the album Inverted Forest . He also plays in Fragments of a Tale with Dine Doneff and Julian Hesse . Bordenave appeared regularly on renowned European stages; Concert tours have taken him to Japan and Korea. He played with musicians such as Lee Konitz , Henning Sieverts , Peter O'Mara , Christian Elsässer , Florian Weber , Geoff Goodman, Walter Lang , Axel Schlosser , Josef Reßle , Kilian Kemmer and Matthias Lindermayr .
