Double Moon Records is an independent record label from Germany, which focuses on the jazz genre .

The label was founded in 1998 by Volker Dueck in Freiburg im Breisgau . He has been running the label from Cologne since 2000 . The stylistic framework of the label is very broad - from mainstream jazz to modern creative and world jazz , but also NuJazz and lounge . The label's musicians include the Cécile Verny Quartet , Albert Mangelsdorff / Reto Weber , Charlie Mariano , Jean-Paul Bourelly , Lajos Dudas and Joe Lovano as well as Enrico Rava , Jasper van't Hof and Mark Turner .

With the next generation edition, unique in its kind , which has been created in cooperation with the jazz magazine Jazzthing since 2004 and already includes more than 80 CDs, the label presents young jazz musicians such as Esther Kaiser , Anette von Eichel , Cyminology , Frederik Köster , Benjamin Schaefer , Stefan Schultze , Ignaz Dinné , Max Frankl , Sebastian Sternal , Tim Allhoff , Max von Eine or Kira Linn with their first fruits. In 2014 the label received the WDR Jazz Prize for this series .
