Tim Allhoff

Tim Allhoff (* 1980 in Augsburg ) is a German jazz pianist and composer .

Life

Allhoff grew up in a musical environment and initially learned to play the piano on a self-taught basis . From 2002 to 2007 he studied jazz piano at the Richard Strauss Conservatory . During his studies he won second prize in the Munich Gasteig competition in 2006 .

In 2008 he founded his own trio with the double bass player Andreas Kurz and drummer Bastian Jütte , with which he won the New German Jazz Prize in 2010. The debut album Prelude was released in 2010, and Allhoff was awarded the ECHO Jazz as Newcomer of the Year National.

The pianist then played with musicians such as Nils Landgren , Larry Grenadier , Dieter Ilg , Johannes Enders , Tony Lakatos , Jeff Ballard , the singer Charito , Nils Wülker and others. In 2012 he and his trio presented the second album Hassliebe , which was also awarded the ECHO Jazz . This was followed by the trio album Kid Icarus (2014), his first solo album entitled Lovebox Sessions (2015) and the fourth trio album There Will Be Light (2017).

Concert tours have taken Allhoff to England, Austria, Switzerland, France, Holland and the Czech Republic. He has made guest appearances at the Rheingau Music Festival , Elbjazz Festival , the Ingolstadt Jazz Days and the Burghausen Jazz Week .

In addition to his work as a pianist and composer, he is also active as an arranger and commissioned composer and was musical director at the Ingolstadt Theater from September 2009 to July 2011 . As an arranger and orchestrator, he has worked on film scores such as The Last Silence , Whatever Happens and the Hollywood production Sleepless with Jamie Foxx.

With Lepus , his sixth album was released in 2019, on which he collaborated with guests such as Nils Wülker , Arne Jansen and Lutz Häfner and the Leopold Mozart String Quartet. In 2019 Allhoff was nominated for the German Music Authors Prize. In the same year signed a contract with the Sony Classical label .

Tim Allhoff lives and works in Munich , unless he is touring .
