Bastian Jütte (born November 22, 1973 in Munich ) is a German jazz drummer .

Live and act

Jütte studied from 1994 to 1996 at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich and then until 2000 at the Mannheim University of Music with Keith Copeland . In 1997 he went on a tour of Japan as part of the German-Japanese Eri and the Stone project , in the following year he appeared again in Japan and at the Jazz Festival Montreux and the North Sea Jazz Festival in The Hague.

In 2000 he appeared for the first time with Maria Schneider at the Mannheim Jazz Festival and made his first recordings with the Victor Alcántara Trio and the Till Martin Quartet ; the latter received a prize from the German record review .

In the following year he began his collaboration with the Martin Auer Quintet with a Middle East tour. This was followed by appearances at the Reutlingen Jazz Festival, the Kempten Jazz Spring, the Ibiza Jazz Festival and other festivals. In 2006 he was engaged by the hr big band . In 2007 his solo album bastian-not in this game was released , in 2011 his CD Inside . He has also recorded with Johannes Enders and Carolyn Breuer and is part of Tim Allhoff's trio and the quintet of Geoff Goodman and Matthieu Bordenave . Jütte has been teaching at the Munich University of Music and Theater since 2010 and has been a full-time lecturer for jazz drums at the Würzburg University of Music since 2011 .

Prizes and awards

In 1999, Jütte won first prize at the Bavarian Radio's Young Talent Festival, Jazzszene 2000 . In 2010 he won the New German Jazz Prize with Tim Allhoff's trio . In 2013 he was awarded the ECHO Jazz in the category “Instrumentalist of the Year national Drums / Percussion”. In 2016 he received the New German Jazz Prize again, this time with his quartet, which includes saxophonist Florian Trübsbach , pianist Rainer Böhm and double bass player Henning Sieverts .
