Martin Auer (born May 17, 1976 in Prien am Chiemsee ) is a German jazz trumpeter and flugelhorn player .

Act

Auer studied trumpet (with Stephan Zimmermann and Gerard Presencer ) and composition / arrangement (with Jürgen Friedrich ) at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts and in Berlin . During his studies he was a member of the Federal Jazz Orchestra and the Franco-German jazz ensemble of Albert Mangelsdorff . He has recorded six albums with his own quintet since 1997 and has made numerous appearances in Europe, the United States, the Middle East, India and Siberia. He is also a member of the Sunday Night Orchestra and the Berlin Art Orchestra , leads an octet with Florian Trübsbach and also performs with the Dixie Dogs . He also played with Clark Terry , Ack van Rooyen , Richie Beirach , Johannes Enders , Conte Candoli , Nils Landgren , Cyndi Lauper , Lyambiko , Die Fantastischen Vier , Nina Hagen and Katja Ebstein .

Since autumn 2008 Auer, who has worked as a lecturer at the regional youth jazz orchestras in Berlin, Saarland and Saxony, has been teaching jazz trumpet at the Leipzig University of Music .
