Sunday Night Orchestra

The Sunday Night Orchestra (other names: Dejan Terzic's Sunday Night Orchestra / Terzic's Sunday Night Orchestra / SNO ) is a Jazz - Big Band in Nuremberg .

The orchestra was founded in 1994 by Dejan Terzic and Sebastian Strempel as a weekly (!) Big band ensemble; Hence the naming based on The Monday Night Orchestra , New York; other founding members include a. Ralf Hesse , Jürgen Hahn , Edwin Göppel, Jürgen Neudert , Gerhard Gschlößl , Johannes Herrlich , Ralph Bauer, Oliver Leicht , Lutz Häfner , Norbert Emminger, Hubert Winter , Christian Weidner , Markus Schieferdecker and Bernhard Pichl . The band performs once a month in the Nuremberg Tafelhalle . At the beginning of 2001 Ed Partyka took over the musical direction of the orchestra, followed by Jürgen Neudert (who has led the formation since 2009).

In the past, the orchestra also worked several times with Maria Schneider and performed classical arrangements by Gil Evans as well as new works by Frank Reinshagen , Torsten Maaß , Ed Partyka, Ralf Hesse, Peter Fulda , Thomas Zoller , Jürgen Friedrich , Katharina Thomsen and Marco Lackner on.

Prizes / awards

The orchestra received the Nuremberg Scholarship in 1996 as part of the City of Nuremberg Prize , the Bavarian Art Promotion Prize in 2004 and the Wolfram von Eschenbach Prize in 2006 .
