Oliver Leicht (born October 2, 1969 in Groß-Gerau ) is a German jazz clarinet and saxophonist.

Live and act

Leicht, who grew up in Nauheim , first learned the recorder and had clarinet lessons from the age of ten and saxophone lessons from the age of seventeen. As a student at the Immanuel Kant School in Rüsselsheim , he played in the school orchestra and then in the IKS Big Band . From 1986 to 1997 he studied classical clarinet at the music academies in Mannheim and Cologne, and from 1992 jazz saxophone in Cologne. From 1989 to 1993 he was alto saxophonist in the State Youth Jazz Orchestra of Hesse, and from 1991 to 1995 in the Federal Jazz Orchestra .

Since 1992 he has played a. a. in the Frank Reinshagen Big Band , the Ed Partyka Jazz Orchestra , the Paul Kuhn Big Band , the Glenn Miller Orchestra , the Marko Lackner Jazz Orchestra , Peter Herbolzheimer's Rhythm Combination & Brass , Bob Brookmeyer's New Art Orchestra , the Cologne Concert Big Band , and the big bands of NDR, WDR and HR. He has been a member of the hr big band since 2005 .

In addition, Leicht, who lives in Cologne, leads several of his own formations: the Trio Tribop (with Matthias Nowak and Jonas Burgwinkel ), the Quartet Herrenrunde (with Norbert Scholly , Ingmar Heller and Jens Düppe ) and the Octet [8] .
