Norbert Scholly (* 1964 in Bardenberg ) is a German jazz guitarist .

Live and act

In 1983/84 Scholly worked with Reinhard Kobialka and Stefan Glückert on jazz productions for WDR Stadtmusik. In 1989 and 1990 he was touring Switzerland with Jochen Bohnes' quartet; he also held a workshop at the Swiss Jazz School . In 1990 he went to New York to study. In the 1990s he was touring Germany and Italy with Marc Abrams , Francesco Bearzotti and Frank Bambara. He played at the Frankfurt Jazz Festival with his quartet, to which Jan von Klewitz , Martin Gjakonovski and Jochen Rückert belonged . He also took part in several productions of the WDR Big Band Cologne with Benny Golson , Peter Erskine and Danny Gottlieb . He had numerous festival appearances and tours at home and abroad and played with Charlie Mariano , Nicolas Simion , Ack van Rooyen , David Liebman and Jim McNeely , among others . He led his own ensembles, and there was also intensive work with computer software in relation to live use / integration in various band constellations. This resulted in z. B. 2002 winning the Jazz Art Award of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the WDR as an electronic performer.

Scholly has many years of teaching experience as a lecturer at the Mainz University of Music , various guest lectureships (Hogeschool Zuid (Maastricht Conservatory) and the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar). This was followed by a composition commission for chamber orchestras on behalf of the Romanian cultural institute with performances in Romania, Austria and Germany.
