Matthias Daneck (born July 9, 1965 in Göttingen ) is a German drummer, composer and arranger.

Life

Daneck started marching drums at the Biberacher Schützenfest when he was 7 years old. He first took piano lessons and switched to drums at the age of 12 . In the following years he gained his first experience in various orchestras, rock groups, jazz combos and big bands. In the competition jazzt youth he was repeatedly win prizes. From 1986 to 1990 he studied at the Swiss Jazz School with Billy Brooks and with Harald Glamsch at the Bern Conservatory Music School . Various study trips to New York with Kenny Washington , Joe Morello and John Riley followed . He has toured numerous countries since 1990 and played at jazz festivals in France, Switzerland, Ukraine, Lithuania, Croatia, Madagascar, Tanzania, Finland and the Netherlands. He can now be heard on over 60 CD productions.

He was u. a. Member of Charlie Haigl's Festival Band , with whom he won 2nd prize in 1997 at the international Concours d'orchestres of the Vienne Jazz Festival (F), the Cecile Verny Quartet , the Zipflo Reinhardt Quartet , the Böhm-Huber-Daneck Trio . He had concerts a. a. with Clarke Terry, Arturo Sandoval , Randy Brecker , Debbie Sledge, Jerry Gonzales, Jimmy Woode , Reggie Johnson and Biréli Lagrène . He currently plays in the Anne Czichowsky Quintet , the Max Zentawer Trio , the Andy Herrmann Trio and Herbert Kramis' Guadalcacin .

As the band leader and composer of his Matthias Daneck's NOW (with Matthias Erlewein, Norbert Scholly, Henning Sieverts), he recently dealt musically with Das Narrenschiff (Brant) and was thus a guest at various international festivals. He was also able to make a name for himself in the field of live electronic music with the instant loop generation . Like a sorcerer, he cooks a boiling soup of dance music, jazz and ethno. He uses very unusual essences and makes use of a completely new technique of live sampling that he developed himself. The latest sounds and grooves are created - not prefabricated in the studio as usual, but live from the moment. Daneck works as a soloist in various crossover projects, for example in the Handel project of the pianist Ragna Schirmer . He lives in Freiburg.
