Peter Bolte (* 1967 in Paderborn ) is a German jazz and improvisation musician ( alto saxophone , flute , composition ).

biography

Bolte moved to Cologne in 1988 , where he studied at the music college . He has performed with the groups of Bob Degen , Harald Haerter and Jeff Cascaro and has been a member of the NDR Bigband since 1995 .

Bolte's projects under his own name include a quartet of Achim Kaufmann , Paul Imm and Alan Jones , which can be stylistically assigned to modern jazz , as well as a duo with live electronics engineer Jim Campbell who plays free improvisational music. Pieces in which he plays different instruments (mainly flutes and saxophones ) that have been superimposed by multi-track processes can be found on several of his albums, most of which contain his own compositions.

As a guest lecturer, Bolte taught at the University of the Arts in Arnhem (1993) and at the University of Music and Theater Hamburg (2003).

Prizes and awards

At the age of 16, Bolte received first prize in the solo rating for saxophone at the “ Jugend jazztcompetition . In 1990 he was awarded the 1st prize in the saxophone competition at the Cologne University of Music, and in 1991 the prize for the "best soloist" at the international competition at the Karlsbad Jazz Festival.
