Paul Imm

Paul Imm (born March 29, 1956 in Lancaster , Pennsylvania ) is an American jazz musician ( double bass ).

Live and act

Imm started playing the double bass at the age of 17. From 1974 to 1976 he studied German at Indiana University Bloomington and then deepened this subject until 1980 in a master’s degree at the same university. He also took private bass lessons in Hamburg during a stay in Germany in 1976/1977.

After graduating, he worked as a musician. Until 1990 he performed in the USA with musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie , James Moody , Charlie Rouse , Randy Brecker , Johnny Coles , Eddie Harris and Jim Beard . In 1991 he moved to Europe to accompany Tom Harrell , Lee Konitz and Laurent de Wilde . For many years he has been a member of Peter Bolte's quartet as well as that of François Théberge ; he presented several albums with both groups. He can also be heard on recordings by Markus Becker , Heinrich Köbberling , Andy Middleton , Susi Hyldgaard , Jonas Schoen , Ingolf Burkhardt and Mischa Schumann.
