Ingolf Burkhardt
Ingolf Burkhardt (born June 30, 1963 in Unterschefflenz ) is a German jazz trumpeter (also flugelhorn ).
Live and act
Burkhardt played in the local brass band from the age of 9 , then in dance bands . From 1985 to 1989 he studied with Manfred Schoof at the Cologne University of Music . He also received private lessons from Bobby Shew in the full-breath technique, which influenced him musically. He first played in the Baden-Württemberg State Youth Jazz Orchestra under Jiggs Whigham , before appearing in Bujazzo in 1987 , but also with Peter Herbolzheimer's Rhythm Combination & Brass . In 1990 he became a member of the NDR Big Band , where he appeared on numerous productions as first trumpeter and soloist, such as in "Joy Spring" (1992, arrangement Herb Geller ). With Ludwig Nuss he led a quintet ( Jazzed Friends ), which was followed by the Hamburg Jazz Quartet and its groove-oriented band Jazul .
Burkhardt also played with the big bands of Bobby Shew and Thilo Berg and the Cologne big band . He also recorded with Brigitte Dietrich / Joe Haider and with Alan Skidmore's Ubizo . He has also worked with Trio Rio , Dieter Bohlen , Echt and James Last .
Between 2001 and 2008 he was a professor at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater . He also leads workshops and master classes all over Europe.
