Ingmar Heller
Ingmar Heller (* 1967 ) is a German jazz bassist.
Live and act
Heller first played drums and piano before turning to bass in 1984. From 1986 he studied at the Cologne University of Music and from 1994 to 1995 at the Vermont Jazz Center in the USA. Since his studies he worked as a freelance musician.
In 1994 he performed with Clark Terry at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival . He toured with Peter Herbolzheimer and Johnny Griffin , accompanied Charlie Mariano , Ilona Haberkamp and Kenny Wheeler and recorded albums with Rolf Kühn , John Abercrombie , Hazy Osterwald and Hildegard Knef . Other musical partners were Arthur Blythe , Michael Brecker , Bob Brookmeyer , Ingrid Jensen , Tony Lakatos , Gerry Mulligan , John Taylor and his brother Paul Heller . In 2004 his discography included more than forty albums.
Heller has been a member of the NDR Bigband since October 2009 .
Prizes and awards
In 1994, Heller won first prize at the Biberach jazz competition and at Jugend jazzt .
