Günter Bollmann (born March 7, 1973 in Mönchengladbach ) is a German jazz musician ( trombone , occasionally euphonium ) who lives in Cologne.

Live and act

Bollmann, who grew up as the son of a hobby trombonist in Brüggen , received trombone lessons from Ernst Lessenich from 1986 to 1989, after having previously been trained on the piano. During this time he played in youth big bands and brass bands . In 1989 he won first prize at the state youth jazz competition . In the same year he became a member of the JugendJazzOrchester NRW and the Bundesjazzorchester . From 1992 to 1997 he studied at the Cologne University of Music with Jiggs Whigham in order to graduate as a “state-certified music school teacher and independent music teacher”. During his studies he also played with Frank Reinshagen , the King of Swing Orchestra and the Cologne Concert Big Band ( live at Engelbät ). In 1998 Kurt Bong brought him into the Frankfurt Radio Big Band , where he is currently the trombone leader. With her he was involved in countless productions. In 2002 his first album was released under his own name. He was also involved in albums by Dieter Reith , Paul Kuhn , Tom Gaebel , Thomas Quasthoff , Udo Jürgens , Rainer Heute , Omar Sosa , Pe Werner and the King's Singers .

From 2004 to 2007 he also taught jazz trombone at the Mannheim University of Music .
