Silvia Droste (born May 21, 1960 in Herne ) is a German jazz singer and saxophonist.

Droste began playing the saxophone in her school band at Haranni High School at the age of 14 , initially in the traditional Dixieland style. In the 1980s she performed with bands such as von Acker Bilk and Chris Barber , Papa Bue's Viking Jazzband and the Dutch Swing College Band . In 1983 she was in the NRW youth jazz orchestra and won first prize at " Jugend jazzt ". At the same time, from 1978 to 1984, she studied pedagogy, English and Romance languages ​​at the Ruhr University in Bochum . After the state examination, she studied jazz at the Cologne University of Music . In 1984 she founded her quartet "Voicings", with which she was on the road until 1990, and turned to more modern jazz styles such as swing and bebop influences.
