Engelbert Wrobel (born November 19, 1959 in Dormagen ) is a German musician of traditional jazz and band leader. He plays the clarinet, soprano, alto and tenor saxophone.

Wrobel grew up in the evenings in the Eifel ( Düren district ) and first received clarinet lessons from his father. At first he played in the local wind orchestra. While studying classical clarinet at the Robert Schumann University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf , he became a member of Rod Mason's Hot Five in 1986 , with whom he toured Europe for more than three years. In 1989 he founded his own band with the Swing Society , which has also cooperated with Hazy Osterwald since 1998 . He is also active in projects such as the Three Tenors of Swing (with saxophone colleagues Antti Sarpila and Frank Roberscheuten ) and appears as a Benny Goodman soloist in the King of Swing Orchestra and with Frank Muschalle's trio .
