Frank Roberscheuten (* 1962 in Valkenswaard , Noord-Brabant ) is a Dutch musician ( tenor saxophone , clarinet ) of traditional jazz .

Live and act

Roberscheuten initially played the clarinet in the local wind orchestra; at the age of 15 he formed his first Dixieland band. He studied classical clarinet at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag and with Walter Boeykens at the Tilburg Conservatory, where he graduated cum laude before concentrating on hot jazz and swing . In 1984 he recorded his first record with the Burgundy Jazz Men . Starting with the Montreux Jazz Festival , he played at almost all relevant jazz festivals in Europe and made music with stars of the scene such as Marty Grosz , Trevor Richards and Johnny Varro . In addition to his own formations, he regularly appears with The Swingcats , Three'sa Crowd (with Bernd Lhotzky and Shaunette Hildabrand ), the Three Tenors of Swing (with Antti Sarpila , Engelbert Wrobel ) and The Three Wise Men (with Rossano Sportiello and Martin Breinschmid ) . He also played with the Metropole Orkest , the Dutch Swing College Band , Les Haricots Rouges and the Allotria Jazzband . His work is documented on well over 70 recordings.

Prizes and awards

In March 2016 Roberscheuten was awarded the “Keeper of the Flame” prize by the Osnabrück jazz club Park Lane for his commitment to traditional jazz.
