Martin Breinschmid (born April 26, 1970 in Vienna ) is an Austrian vibraphonist, drummer and percussionist in the field of jazz and classical music.

Live and act

Martin Breinschmid comes from a family of musicians and graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in 1988 with excellent results. His younger brother Georg is a double bass player, composer and jazz musician.

Martin Breinschmid has been a member of the United Bühnen Wien orchestra since 1988 and has worked in musicals such as Cats , Das Phantom der Oper , Elisabeth , 42nd Street , Les Misérables , Freudiana , Rocky Horror Show , Grease , Beauty and the Beast , Anatevka , Mozart , Tanz der Vampire , Jekyll & Hyde , Wake up , Rebecca , Jesus Christ Superstar , The Producers , Legally Blond and Love Never Dies .

As a symphonic percussionist he has played under the conductors Claudio Abbado , Zubin Mehta , Nikolaus Harnoncourt , Franz Welser-Möst , Roger Norrington and in the orchestras Concentus Musicus , Camerata Salzburg , Ensemble Kontrapunkte, Ensemble “die Reihe” , Pro Brass , Wiener Kammerphilharmonie , Vienna Chamber Opera , Clemencic Consort , Concilium Musicum , Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra, Vienna Mozart Orchestra , Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and LA Philharmonic Orchestra.

In the jazz area he leads his own quartet. a. Herbert Swoboda is a member. Allan Vaché , Dan Barrett , Tommy Vig , Pete York and Engelbert Wrobel played with his Radio Kings . Breinschmid played vibraphone at various concerts by Dave Brubeck in Vienna. In 1999 he was solo percussionist at the Tokushima Festival in Japan. In 2001 the former American president played Bill Clinton in Schonbrunn Palace, at his own request with his saxophone in Breinschmid band "The Radio Kings" with. In 2004 he was a percussionist in the performance of Joe Zawinul's "Stories of the Danube". In 2008 Breinschmid took part in the concert series In Memoriam Lionel Hampton with his own band, the Radio Kings , and the Vienna Broadway Big Band . The CD "Salute to Lionel Hampton" was also released. In the same year, Breinschmid undertook as part of the trio Three Wise Men (around Frank Roberscheuten , to which the Italian pianist Rossano Sportiello belongs) a concert tour through Western Europe with 30 concerts; the CD of the same name was created. A series of appearances with the legendary Hugo Strasser Hot Five took Breinschmid across Germany in 2008. In 2009 he appeared at the Salzburg Festival and was a guest at the Bregenz Festival as a soloist with the Vorarlberg Symphony Orchestra . The Three Wise Men have had an annual European tour since 2010 .

Breinschmid has also given concerts with jazz musicians Buddy DeFranco , Terry Gibbs , Ken Peplowski , Jake Hanna , Bucky Pizzarelli , Peanuts Hucko , Lee Harper and Bill Ramsey .

Breinschmid went on concert tours to Japan, China, Korea, Indonesia, the USA and South America.
