Vienna Mozart Orchestra

The Vienna Mozart Orchestra , consisting of 30 musicians, was founded in 1986 and has since concentrated on the work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart . In the more than 30 years of its existence, the orchestra has established itself as an integral part of the musical summer program of the city of Vienna .

Numerous musicians from well-known Vienna orchestras and ensembles take part in the Vienna Mozart Orchestra, including members of the Vienna Philharmonic and Vienna Symphony Orchestra as soloists and conductors. Furthermore, singers from various opera houses perform with the Vienna Mozart Orchestra, in particular the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Volksoper .

Concerts

The concert series “Vienna Mozart Concerts in Historical Costumes”, which takes place every year from May to the end of October with four to six concerts a week in the Golden Hall in the Musikverein building , in the Vienna State Opera and in the Great Hall in the Vienna Konzerthaus , is particularly well known .

On the occasion of the Millennium Celebrations in 1996, 10 open-air concerts were held in co-production with the KlangBogen Wien on the Millennium Stage in front of Schönbrunn Palace . Another participation took place as part of the Carinthian Summer in Ossiach in August 1997 under the direction of the Vienna Philharmonic Ernst Ottensamer .

In June 1996 the orchestra performed at a gala event of the Chase Manhattan Bank in the Vienna Hofburg .

The tours

The orchestra uses the free winter months for concert tours and guest performances. The orchestra has already been to Japan six times, where it opened the Mozart Year in Tokyo in 1991. In 2002 the orchestra opened the 30th edition of the largest festival in Latin America, the Festival Internacional Cervantino , as a representative for Austria . Further guest appearances have led to Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, Morocco, Malta, Germany, Slovenia, Italy, Greece, Canada, USA, Brazil, Panama, Ukraine, Mexico, Turkey and Cyprus.
