The KlangBogen Wien was a music festival in Vienna , Austria .

history

The KlangBogen was an annual festival that from 1995 to 2006 under the direction of Roland Geyer offered opera productions and classical concerts at various locations in the city of Vienna for a month .

The festival dates back to the Vienna Music Summer, founded in 1952. Because a connecting element spans the numerous music events, the name was changed to KlangBogen Wien in 1991.

A range of operas from early to contemporary and from medieval chamber music to experimental compositions of the 21st century were performed. In recent years the festival has produced performances of Don Quichotte , La Bohème and Dialogues des Carmélites at the Theater an der Wien .

The festival performances ended with a concert by the Vienna Philharmonic at the Vienna Musikverein .
