Herbert Swoboda (born October 15, 1966 in Vienna ) is an Austrian jazz pianist and clarinetist .

Herbert Swoboda began his musical education at the age of ten. After graduating from the Musikgymnasium in Vienna , he studied at the Vienna Conservatory and graduated in 1994 with honors in jazz piano (clarinet as a second instrument) and jazz pedagogy. He has been working as a freelance musician since 1991 and mainly deals with traditional jazz. He is a member of various formations such as B. Jazzklusiv and the Radio Kings of the vibraphonist Martin Breinschmid .

As a pianist, he is particularly valued as an accompanist to international guest musicians, but was also a member of Christian Plattner's quartet . As a clarinetist, he leads his own formations such as Swobodas Swing Trio and the Herbert Swoboda Quintet . As a member of "Fatty George Memorial Band", he replaced the legendary Viennese jazz musician Fatty George and denied the Vienna Jazz Festival an appearance with Joe Zawinul .
