Marc Abrams

Marc Abrams (born December 24, 1958 in New York City ) is an American bassist ( double bass , electric bass ) of modern jazz .

Abrams received piano lessons from the age of seven. At the age of ten he switched to the double bass. At the age of twelve he made his first public appearances in musicals and with the region's youth orchestras. A year later he played electric bass in local bands. After training at the University of Massachusetts , he worked with musicians such as Kenny Clarke , Sal Nistico , Chet Baker , Gil Evans , Karl Berger , John Tchicai and Steve Lacy and settled in Italy.

He led his own quartet with Francesco Bearzatti and toured internationally with Dennis Charles , Benny Golson , Eddie Henderson , Luisa Longo, Mike Nock , Allan Praskin , Heinz von Hermann the Italian All Stars , Pietro Tonolo and Massimo Urbani . He has also recorded with Johannes Enders , Tony Lakatos , Joe Nay , Oliver Kent and Sal Nistico .

Abrams teaches double bass and electric bass at the Conservatorio di Musica Giuseppe Tartini in Trieste and at the Thelonious Monk School in Venice as well as theory and jazz improvisation in Padua .
