Francesco Bearzatti
Francesco Bearzatti (born October 9, 1966 in Pordenone ) is an Italian jazz musician ( tenor and soprano saxophone , clarinet , electronics ).
Life
Bearzatti grew up in Friuli . He studied clarinet at the Udine Conservatory and was then a student of George Coleman in New York . He then worked for several years as a rock and pop musician and DJ .
In 1994 he founded the Kaiser Lupowitz Trio , with which two albums were created. In 1995 he worked on Valery Ponomarev's album Live at Vartan Jazz and then went on a US tour with this, where he had the opportunity to perform with Ben Riley . In 1998 his first album was released as the band leader Suspended Steps . In the following years he lived mainly in Paris, where he founded the Bizart Trio with Aldo Romano and Emmanuel Bex ; he also played on Romano's album Chante . He also worked in various formations with the Sicilian pianist Giovanni Mazzarino , worked on Gianluca Petrella's Blue Note album Indigo 4 and recorded an album with Stefano Battaglia's quintet in memory of Pier Paolo Pasolini .
Bearzetti is also head of the Sax Pistols (with Stomu Takeishi , bass and Dan Weiss , drums). He continues to lead The Bears Trio (with Paolino Dalla Porta , double bass and Manu Roche , drums) and the Tinissima Quartet (with Giovanni Falzone , trumpet, Danilo Gallo , bass and Zeno de Rossi , drums). Between 1993 and 2012 he was involved in 41 recording sessions after Tom Lord .
Prizes and awards
His tribute album X , reminiscent of Malcolm X , was named Best Album of 2010 by both Musica and JazzIt . In 2011 he received the Prix Bobby Jaspar of the Académie du Jazz as best European musician.
