Académie du Jazz

The French national Académie du Jazz is a cultural non-profit association founded in 1955 , whose main task is to annually select the best musicians and best album productions in jazz .

In the course of its history, the Académie du Jazz was directed by André Hodeir , then Maurice Cullaz and Claude Carriere (from 1993). Since 2007 it has been under the leadership of François Lacharme . The honorary presidents of the Académie included or include Jean Cocteau , the composers Georges Auric and Henri Sauguet , the music critic Charles Delaunay , the violinists Stéphane Grappelli and André Hodeir, Maurice Cullaz, the pianist Martial Solal and Frédéric Charbaut, co-founder of the Jazz à Saint festival -Germain-des-Prés .
