The Prix Fats Waller is a jazz prize that was awarded by the Académie du Jazz from 1958 to 1992 to the best republication of the year in jazz ( prix de la meilleure réédition de jazz ); In 1993 and 1994 productions of classical and traditional jazz were awarded the prize. It was named after the jazz pianist Fats Waller (1904–1943). In several years the prize was awarded twice because of a tie .
