Matthias Akeo Nowak

Matthias Akeo Nowak (* 19th May 1976 in Berlin ) is a German jazz - musicians ( bass ).

Live and act

Nowak studied orchestral music and jazz at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts and at Queens College in New York . He took part in masterclasses with Charlie Haden , Drew Gress and Eric Harland . As a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie , the Ensemble 01 Klangwerk and the Junge Österreichische Philharmonie, he performed at home and abroad. Gunter Hampel brought him into his “Next Generation” as a bass player. From 1999 to 2008 he played in the group Triosence , with which he won the 2001 youth jazz competition and recorded several albums.

Nowak founded his Koi Trio in 2010 . He is part of the Cologne jazz scene, has worked with musicians such as John Ruocco , Jürgen Friedrich , Dejan Terzic , Rudi Mahall , Christopher Dell , Peter Ehwald and Oliver Leicht as well as played with Paragon , in the quartet of the Belgian saxophonist Daniel Daemen , with Eva Mayerhofer and Laia Genc , Angelika Niescier , Martin Schulte , in Stefan Schultze Large Ensemble and Tobias Christl poaching . Concert tours have taken him to Albania, France, Luxembourg, England, Italy, the USA and India. He has performed at international festivals such as the Willisau Jazz Festival . He can also be heard on albums by Johannes Repka , Caroline Thon , Tobias Hoffmann and Lars Duppler .
