Eva Mayerhofer

Eva Mayerhofer (* 1970 in Heidelberg ) is a German jazz singer .

Mayerhofer learned classical piano from the age of eight. She studied with Rachel Gould at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern, then took part in the popular music contact course at the Hamburg University of Music , before continuing her vocal studies at the Hanover University of Music and Drama with Nanni Byl. From 1995 to 1997 she was a member of the Federal Youth Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Peter Herbolzheimer , with whom she toured abroad and recorded the album Focus on Vocals . In the following years she gave concerts with the trio of the Luxembourg bassist Hervé Jeanne , to which the pianist Sarah Cion belonged, with whom she also recorded the album Into the Light . Together with the Heidelberg guitarist Hanno Giulini, she founded the duo project anyone in 1999 , with which she released two albums. She was also on tour with the Glen Miller Orchestra of Wil Salden . In 2002 she performed at the Düsseldorf Jazz Rally .

Since 2003 she has worked with Frank Sackenheim and Lars Duppler in her own quintet; She also gave concerts with the Tobias Kremer Big Band and a Kurt Weill project by Lars Duppler. Since 2006 she has also been the singer of Christian Eckert's Nu Jazz project Sapporo Sound Motel . In addition to her own musical projects, she worked as a soloist with various other ensembles, including a. with the hr big band (e.g. at the German Jazz Festival Frankfurt 2007) and the Frankfurt Jazz Trio .

From 2004 Mayerhofer worked as a lecturer at the University of Music and Dance Cologne for jazz singing and ensemble management and from 2009 at the University of Music Osnabrück . Since 2011 she has been a lecturer in jazz singing at the Hoch Conservatory .
