Peter Fulda (* 1968 in Schwabach ) is a German composer , jazz pianist and arranger .

Live and act

After attending the Wolfram-von-Eschenbach-Gymnasium in Schwabach , Fulda studied jazz piano from 1988 to 1992 at the Herrmann-Zilcher Conservatory in Würzburg (with Chris Beier ), and then studied composition at the Cologne University of Music until 1996 . 2000–2008 he studied tabla with Sajal Karmakar . There are also private lessons and workshops with Joanne Brackeen , David Liebman , Bob Brookmeyer , Maria Schneider , Hal Galper , Bill Dobbins and John Taylor .

Fulda’s often large-scale works were produced for the stage, radio, television and CD - u. a. in collaboration with musicians such as Charlie Mariano , Michael Wollny , Nils Wogram , Ebeneia Gold , Céline Rudolph , Dirk Mündelein , Christopher Dell , Robert Landfermann , Sajal Karmakar , Henning Sieverts or Bill Elgart . In addition to numerous works for jazz ensembles, big bands and orchestras, his oeuvre includes an opera, an oratorio, several songbooks and piano cycles.

So far he has released twelve CDs under his own name, and has been involved as composer, sideman, arranger or producer on more than 50 CDs.

Peter Fulda is the founder and chairman of the "Metropolmusik" association, which has been promoting creative musicians across all styles since 2010 and has so far organized around 300 concerts. The work of the association was awarded a culture prize from the city of Nuremberg in 2013.

He has also been running the independent label label 11 since 2011 . He organizes the jazz composition festival My Very Sound and has been teaching composition and arrangement at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts since 2001 .

Prizes and awards

Fulda has received numerous scholarships and prizes, such as the Wolfram von Eschenbach Culture Promotion Prize 2000, the Culture Prize of the City of Schwabach 2001, a one-year Composer in Residence scholarship in Montréal 2003/04 and the City of Nuremberg Prize 2017.
