Sajal Karmakar

Sajal Karmakar (* 1955 in Calcutta , West Bengal ) is an Indian tabla player .

Sajal Karmakar got his first lesson from Sufal Hazra . For the past 20 years he has been under the leadership of Shankar Ghosh . His career began at the age of 13 with a concert at Sishu Mahal and its broadcast on All India Radio . He received first prize in the International Collegiate Oriental Music Competition . He was the best and won two gold medals in the Sangeet Pravakar and Sangeet Praveen disciplines, organized by Allahabad Prayag Sangeet Samity .

Sajal Karmakar gave concerts all over India, such as B. in New Delhi , Bombay , Madras , Allahabad , Kanpur , Gauhati , Patna and Orissa . Outside of India, he has given more than 25 concerts in England, including TV broadcasts from the BBC and Granada . For many years his concerts have been broadcast on radio and All India Television . His last stay in Europe was initiated by an invitation from the BBC in England with a final concert in the Royal Albert Hall .
