Sebastian Strempel

Sebastian Strempel (* 1967 in Dortmund ) is a German jazz musician ( trumpet , also flugelhorn , composition ).

Live and act

Strempel started playing the trumpet at the age of twelve. Between 1986 and 1991 he was a member of the State Youth Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Dusko Goykovich , then until 1994 of the Bujazzo under Peter Herbolzheimer . From 1989 to 1994 he studied jazz trumpet at the Hermann Zilcher Conservatory and the University of Music in Würzburg with Hans-Peter Salentin .

While still a student he played in the Big Band Explosion of Bobby Burgess , the Frankfurt Jazz Orchestra , the Munich Big Band of Dusko Goykovich, the big band of Harald Rüschenbaum . He also belonged to the groups of Peter Fulda , Michael Flügel and Lutz Häfner . In 1994 Strempel founded the Sunday Night Orchestra in Nuremberg together with Dejan Terzic . In Pepe Lienhard's orchestra he repeatedly accompanied Udo Jürgens . He is currently one of the Good Fellas alongside Marco Piludu, Marco Kühnl and Stephan Schmeußer . He can also be heard on albums by Bob Brookmeyer , Ed Partyka / Ansgar Striepens , Frank Reinshagen , Al Porcino and Ulrich Tukur .

Since 1995 Strempel has also been teaching trumpet at the Bamberg Municipal Music School; since 2000 he has directed the big band Blue Train Orchestra founded by Heinz Wolff at this music school.
