Anna Lauvergnac

Anna Lauvergnac (* around 1966 in Trieste ) is an Italian jazz singer and film composer .

Live and act

Lauvergnac first made a diploma as a primary school teacher and studied psychology for three years. She looked after handicapped children in elementary school and organized jazz concerts in her hometown before jumping in as a singer in a band. She applied to the Berklee College Summer Clinics in Perugia in 1989 . In the same year she began her four-year music course at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz ; there he was instructed by Jay Clayton , Mark Murphy , Andy Bey and Sheila Jordan . She shared the apartment with Claus Koch and Claus Raible , with whom she still works today. She also attended workshops with Reggie Workman and, during numerous stays in New York, with Barry Harris .

At first she played with Marcello Tonolo. Between 1999 and 2008 she was the singer of the Vienna Art Orchestra , with whom she toured internationally and has recorded twelve albums since 1995. She also worked with the Upper Austrian Jazz Orchestra , with the Radio Slovenija Big Band and Claus Raibel's Mad For Tadd Orchestra . She also worked in a duo with Bojan Z and in a trio with Fritz Pauer and Hans Strasser, as well as with the groups of Till Martin and Julia Hülsmann , with whom she designed a program with songs by Randy Newman . After leading her own quartet and presenting two albums with it, she is currently (2017) exploring the depth of expression of jazz songs in a duo with Claus Raible with her program Freefall . She also worked with musicians such as Hans Salomon , Paolo Fresu , Bumi Fian , Steve Kirby, Wolfgang Puschnig , Monika Spy and Oliver Kent .

From 2000 to 2002 she taught jazz repertoire and bodywork at the Bruckner Conservatory . She also set six films by Xaver Schwarzenberger to music , such as Stella di mare - Help, we inherit a ship!

She is also active in charities in India, where she acted as a consultant for a community of immigrants and, together with the non-governmental organization ChildRescue, supported street children and other children in precarious situations. She has repeatedly organized benefit concerts in Goa under the title “For the Children” .
