Philipp Stauber (born September 9, 1965 in Vilseck ) is a German jazz guitarist .

Live and act

Philipp Stauber, who grew up in Olching near Munich, first received classical piano lessons and switched to the guitar at the age of twelve. After graduating from high school, he graduated from the Munich Guitar Institute MGI and then graduated from the Arnhem University of Music in jazz guitar with top marks. He took lessons from Joe Pass , Karl Ratzer , Howard Roberts and Kosta Lukács , among others . In addition to his Philipp Stauber quintet with Henning Sieverts , bass, Till Martin, saxophone and Bastian Jütte , drums, his duo with the guitarist Helmut Kagerer and the collaboration with the singers Liz Howard, Stefanie Boltz, Caeroline Landry and Gerti Raym are in the foreground of his Job. I.a. He played and worked with Giora Feidman , Bobby Watson , August Zirner, Axel Hacke, "The Weather Girls", Michael Schanze , Alfons Schubeck, Hugo Strasser and Gus Bachus.

Stauber has released five albums under his own name so far (2017) and has worked as a studio musician on numerous records by other artists.

Awards

In 1991 and 1993 Stauber took first place in the MDR jazz competition; In 2011 his album Foolish Hearts was named “CD of the year 2010” by Archtop-Germany.de.
