Michael Schanze (born January 15, 1947 in Tutzing ) is a German actor , presenter , singer , composer and author .

Career

music

Michael Schanze is the son of the radio orchestra director Artur Schanze (1910–1956) and his wife Ursula (1924–2017). He received his musical training in the Windsbach boys' choir and through classical piano lessons. After graduating from high school in 1966, he founded a. a. with Daniel Friedrich his quarter deck combo and was discovered by a record producer. The success of the first single Ich bin kein Lord led to further recordings. With I love you, Oh how happy I am and whoever sees you loves you , he placed himself in the German charts. For the benefit of the ARD television lottery , he sang the title song " Schalt mal dein Herz aufaufnahme" in 1978 . In 1982 he received a gold record for LP Olé España, which was recorded with the German national soccer team for the World Cup in Spain . This was followed mainly by musical productions for children on the subjects of road safety and environmental protection, as well as audio books.

As a composer he was already active for his record productions in the 1970s. In 2014 he composed the music for A Christmas Story based on texts by Christian Berg . The Christmas miracle happens to stingy Scrooge. The family musical celebrated its premiere in November 2014 in the comedy Winterhuder Fährhaus, Hamburg. His musical version by Heidi premiered in Vienna in autumn 2018 .

watch TV

In 1968, television brought him for the first time as a young artist to the talent bar of the Südwestfunk . At the beginning of the 1970s Schanze hosted the weekend journal Mobile for two years on Saturday afternoons on Bavarian TV for ARD . Then he switched to ZDF and received his own personality show there in 1972. Would you have time for me today? with numerous guest stars and solo appearances. In 1973 he hosted the Gala du MIDEM in Cannes, Europe's largest music trade fair, broadcast by ZDF in several languages together with Jean-Pierre Cassel . Schanze started his children's quiz 1, 2 or 3 in 1977 , which he moderated until September 1985. The trademark of the program was a finger-cheek-clinker, which was then called a "pop" after the sound. In 1978 he was the first artist of German descent to take part in the Gala de l'Union de l'artistes (a counterpart to stars in the ring ) at the Cirque d'Hiver in Paris with a trampoline number . Other series of shows and individual programs on public television followed. In the mid-1980s Schanze switched to ARD. There he showed himself in a multi-part personality show entitled The Michael-Schanze-Show and moderated the WDR children's and youth series Telefant . The honeymoon evening presented by him started in 1988 . In this regular 90-minute live show on Saturday evening, newlyweds played for a dream trip to their honeymoon.

From 1991 he produced Kinderquatsch with Michael, whose concept was based on elements from previous programs. In this program, mostly three 4- to 6-year-old children were invited to show their talent on the television stage. The little stars performed songs and poems and were interviewed by Michael Schanze. In 2003 there was a plagiarism lawsuit before the Federal Court of Justice because the show was based on the French format L'école des fans . The BGH found that the German series of programs differed sufficiently from the format of the French broadcaster. Michael Schanze's moderation, which was decisive for the success, was particularly emphasized as a distinguishing feature. His child-friendly conversation in response to the children's spontaneous ideas is an independent creative achievement. Nevertheless, the show ran for the last time in November 2003.

During his television career, Schanze has received several awards for his TV work. Among other things, he received the Bambi , the Golden Camera and the German television award Telestar . In 1984 he was named “Best Children's Entertainer in Europe” for 1, 2 or 3 by the ETMA (European TV Magazines Association) in Cannes . He received nominations in 1996 for the Adolf Grimme Prize (children's talk with Michael) and for the Golden Rose of Montreux (Wonderland).
