Horst Hächler (born March 12, 1926 in Hamburg ) is a German actor , screenwriter , film director and film producer .

Life

Hächler began his artistic activity as an actor at the Hamburger Kammerspiele , where he acted from 1945 to 1948. His entry into film began in 1948 with a small role in the Helmut Käutner film The Apple Is . He continued to work for Käutner and was his assistant director from 1952 to 1953 .

In 1956 he made his debut as a director with the film Liebe, based on the novel Before deer is warned by Vicki Baum . The main actress was Maria Schell , who Hächler married in 1957. Son Oliver was born in 1962, and the marriage ended in divorce in 1965.

His production of the novel Raubfischer in Hellas went to the flop. Since Hächler then hardly got any directing assignments, he founded his production company TV 13 in 1971, with which he produced his own report films based on the model of the extremely successful schoolgirl report series by Wolf C. Hartwig .

In 1973 he founded a new film company called CTV 72. With her he filmed several novels by Ludwig Ganghofer , which differed from the corresponding adaptations of the 1950s by unsentimental harshness.
