Would you have time for me today? was a personality show with Michael Schanze on ZDF from 1972 to 1978 . Due to the airtime in the main evening program , it meant his final breakthrough as an entertainer. The show was recorded in front of an audience in the FSM studios in Munich - Unterföhring and broadcast once or twice a year. The scripts came from Mischa Mleinek , directed by Dieter Pröttel .
Show concept
In the style of the great personality shows, Michael Schanze presented his guests in various game scenes, duets and musical solo performances. Christiane Rücker and Ernst H. Hilbich were put at his side as permanent sketch partners, who ran a fictitious "tele-show school" in the first few episodes.
During the entire production period, the concept was refined so that in the later editions all game scenes and music texts of an edition were put under a single theme. The influence and success of the comedy series “ Klimbim ” at that time led to a decline in the musical elements.
Trivia
- The show was originally designed by ZDF for Roy Black . However, this canceled at short notice, although all production dates and guests had already been set. At the time, the press speculated that he didn't dare to run his own show. When he appeared on Joachim Fuchsberger's talk show “Heut 'Abend” in 1988 , Black said that there was no TV show because his management and the record producer advised him against shooting shortly before filming began. Reasons for this were upcoming tours, music and film recordings. In 1976 he finally took part in the show as a guest star.
- With the first edition on June 1, 1972, due to political events (arrest of the Baader-Meinhof group ), the show was only broadcast in the late program. Numerous viewers complained to ZDF and it was followed by a repeat date on August 5th of the same year, which was unusual for an entertainment program until then. Something similar happened to the 6th episode of April 24, 1975, which was postponed to June 26 due to current circumstances ( attack on the German embassy in Stockholm ).
- The 13th episode was involuntarily converted into a best-of, as Michael Schanze was unable to complete any game or dance scenes due to a sports injury. He moderated this - at the same time last issue - predominantly seated in dialogue with a hand puppet. The expenditure of time and the beginning success of " 1, 2 or 3 " finally led to the end of the show series.
- Based on the show title, Michael Schanze presented an edition of the talent show “Would you have time for us today?” From 1979 to 1984. Except for the theme song, there was nothing in common in terms of content.
