The Stair Bridge is a road bridge near the Scottish town of Stair in the East Ayrshire Council Area . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.
description
The Stair Bridge was built in 1745. It is a narrow stone arch bridge that crosses the Ayr at the west end of Stair not far from the Stair House with three arches. The masonry consists of quarry stone roughly hewn into stone blocks. It leads the B730 ( Polnessan - Dreghorn ) in one lane over the Ayr. The roadway is limited by a parapet. The pillars are provided with triangular protruding icebreakers .
