Irene Mann (born April 12, 1929 in Königsberg , † September 19, 1996 in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm ) was a German dancer , actress and choreographer .

Life

She received her dance training from Heinz Klee, Madame Roussanne, Olga Preobrajenska and Nora Kiss. After her debut at the Oberhausen Theater , she danced at the Theater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich in 1951/52 and then in Frankfurt am Main from 1952 to 1957 .

In Frankfurt she created various roles in the ballets by H. Freund. As a dancer and actress, she also appeared in several films, from 1959 she took over the choreography several times. She then worked freelance for television and choreographed numerous shows in the 1960s, as well as operetta and musical productions. As head of the ZDF television ballet, she played a significant role in the visual design of many of the programs of that time. In addition to dancing, she also gave vocal performances.

Irene Mann, most recently ballet director at Friedrichstadt-Palast from 1992 to 1995 , had been married to the actor and voice actor Berno von Cramm since 1965 . On October 1, 1996, she was posthumously awarded the Order of Merit of the State of Berlin .
