Melody and Rhythm is a German music film by John Olden from 1959 .
action
Tommy Alberti plays the violin in his father Raoul's orchestra. He finds the music shallow and keeps interrupting the performances and rehearsals until he finally leaves. He wanted to become a rock'n'roll singer, rented old Erna Hummel and found a job in the bar, where he sang to the guitar. Soon he has problems with a bar patron who harasses the young Maxi Moll and complains about Tommy's modern music. Tommy is released after a brief brawl. Maxi, on the other hand, doesn't know where to spend the night because the forgetful young woman had once again forgotten the key to her apartment and was thrown out by her boss, the Orlando hairdresser. Tommy takes her to his apartment, but there is an argument the next morning. Maxi sees the photo of the attractive Linda Bauer on Tommy's table. The jeweler is ensnared by both Tommy and Raoul. When Maxi makes fun of Linda's age, Tommy reacts angrily and throws her out. Maxi, however, forgets the suitcase from him and fetches it when Tommy promptly has a visit from Linda. Maxi makes some ambiguous comments and leaves. A short time later, she visits Linda in the jewelry store and apologizes to her. As she leaves, a gold chain falls on the floor and Linda's dog drags it away. However, Linda thinks Maxi stole from her.
Tommy is finally lucky because he gets an engagement in Berlin. Together with his band, who used to play in the orchestra with Raoul, he travels from Hamburg to Berlin. The band members also hid Maxi in the trunk that they wanted to take with them as a cook. Shortly before leaving, Tommy visits Linda again, who tells him about Maxi's theft. In Berlin, the band moves into an artist pension where Maxi is employed as a maid. Tommy meets her here again when she is about to buy a cigar for a guest with a hundred-mark bill. Tommy thinks he caught her stealing again and later accuses her of being a thief, a liar and a coward. Maxi is deeply disappointed and first wants to prove that she is not a coward: She lets the guest, who works as a knife thrower, use her as a living target in a show. Meanwhile, Tommy has received a letter from Linda in which she sends him the gold chain that has since been found. After the knife throwing show, Tommy and his band perform and their show becomes a huge success. After the show, Tommy goes to Maxi and apologizes to her. Both make up and Tommy gives her the gold chain.
Tommy's performance was so successful that Agent Wanowsky booked him and the band on a world tour. However, Tommy makes it clear to Maxi that she cannot accompany her on the tour. Maxi turns away from Tommy, disappointed, believing that he just wanted to get rid of her all along. She returns the gold chain to him and Tommy promises to give the chain to the girl he really loves. After numerous concerts all over the world, the newspaper announced one day that Tommy had returned to Hamburg from his tour. At a concert, Tommy's reconciliation with his father occurs when both are on stage together. Tommy also announces that he wants to sing a song with which he asks a person for forgiveness. During the track Wunderbar wie du , he goes to Maxi who is sitting in the audience and gives her the gold chain. They leave the house together after the concert.
