Hugo Lindinger (born September 1, 1911 in Raab , Upper Austria ; † January 10, 1988 in Vienna ) was an Austrian actor . Siblings Leopold Lindinger. Uncle of Christoph Lindinger.

Life

Hugo Lindinger first took singing lessons after school and later acting lessons. First, he joined as a bass - Buffo at the Municipal Theater of Gera and at the State Theater in Salzburg on. In 1937 he made his debut as an actor in Tilsit . He played on numerous German theaters, especially in Frankfurt am Main , Regensburg , Remscheid and Munich . He also appeared at the Burgtheater in Vienna and at the Salzburg Festival , including as host in Thomas Bernhard's play Der Theatermacher . In addition, he played in numerous films from the post-war period, in his final years he could also be seen as the butler of a countess in some episodes of the television series Meister Eder and his Pumuckl with Gustl Bayrhammer .

Hugo Lindinger, unmistakable with his corpulent figure and distinctive double chin, played mainly comedic supporting roles with great sensitivity, which earned him the reputation of a folk actor. For his performance in the film Please Stand Up , he received the gold tape in 1972 .

Lindinger was married and lived in Munich; his son Florian, born in 1951, died in 1993. He was also the uncle of the actor Tobias Moretti . In his spare time, Hugo Lindinger was an avid fisherman . His grave is in the Maxglan cemetery in Salzburg.
