action

The old cook Ambrosia leaves Pastor Achaz's parsonage for several months to give birth to her child far away. The child's father is Achaz himself. The young Irma is hired as a substitute, who immediately sees through the condition of Ambrosia, is amused by it and a little later also reports on the pregnancy to the ignorant cooperator Vincent. Irma settles in quickly in the parsonage and soon seduces Vincent and a little later Achaz.

Ambrosia gives birth to her child, a boy, in nuns and after a while returns to the rectory. In the meantime Irma is pregnant and Vincent, who has been given absolution for his actions by a clergyman friend, becomes engaged to her. Nevertheless, Irma now has to leave the farm and will give birth to her child two villages away. Irma reacts angrily to Ambrosia's smug remarks and insults her for having secretly had a child from the pastor. Achaz, however, asks Irma to calm down, since no one except him and her knows that Irma's child could also have come from him. Vincent, in turn, assures Irma that his feelings for her were not clouded by the child. With Achaz's help, he, Irma and the child will have a secure future.

production

The parsonage comedy was filmed from September 20 to October 1971 in the Heberthal and Reisach parishes of Wasserburg am Inn . The costumes created Maleen Pacha , the Filmbauten come from Willy Reichert . The film was released in German cinemas on October 26, 1972 and, despite the controversial subject matter, well-known actors and heavy criticism from the Catholic media, received little attention from the audience. It ran on RTL 2 for the first time on television on May 21, 1994 . In 2005 the film was released on DVD.

criticism

The film service wrote that Die Pfarrhauskomödie “embarrassingly coarsened the play. The naive Bavarian peasant folk comedy has turned into a shrill, morally critical 'home film' that defames the milieu and the characters. ”“ The meat is willing, the film is weak, ”summarized Cinema .
