Benno Beiroth (born December 10, 1942 in Heide (Holstein) ) is a former German football player . He played two Bundesliga games for Fortuna Düsseldorf .

Career

Beiroth came to Lübeck for the 1964/65 round from Heider SV , where he had played since 1960. He played for three years from 1964 to 1967 in the then second-rate Regionalliga Nord at VfB Lübeck . At the Green-Whites von der Lohmühle , under coach Heinz Lucas and teammates Manfred Bomke (goalkeeper), Jürgen Brinkmann , Heinz van Üüm , Helmut Hosung , Horst Wenzel , Manfred Pohla , Wilfried Kemmer and Rainer Waberski , he made 85 regional league appearances and scored five goals. From 1967 to 1969 he played two rounds with league rivals Holstein Kiel . With the "Störchen" he came under the coaches Rudi Faßnacht and Hans Peter Ehlers as well as the teammates Gerd Koll , Hans-Joachim Weller and Jürgen Wohlgemuth to another 43 games (6 goals) in the Regionalliga Nord.

In 1969 he moved to Fortuna Düsseldorf. For Fortuna, however, he only played 3 league games (1 regional league game in 1970/71 and 2 Bundesliga games in the rounds of 1971/72 and 1972/73). In 1973 he ended his professional career. From 1976 Beiroth headed the amateur department of Fortuna, from 1978 he was league chairman of Fortuna. In the 1980/81 season he jumped after Otto Rehhagel's dismissal for the derby against 1. FC Cologne (0-0) as head coach.
