Rudi Fassnacht

Rudolf "Rudi" Faßnacht (born December 28, 1934 in Neu-Ulm , † July 25, 2000 in Gonesse ) was a German football player and coach .

As a soccer player, Rudi Faßnacht was active at VfB Stuttgart , TSG Ulm 46 , Hannover 96 and Bayer 04 Leverkusen .

From 1966 to 1968, the then 31-year-old Rudolf Faßnacht coached Holstein Kiel . From 1970 to 1973 he was the coach of MSV Duisburg , having previously looked after FC 08 Villingen . On October 19, 1973, he resigned himself from his position after losing 3-1 at home against SC Fortuna Köln - a novelty in the Bundesliga at the time . In the three previous seasons, the MSV had occupied places 7, 14 and 10 under his direction. His assistant Willibert Kremer took over at the bottom of the table .

In 1974 Faßnacht was supposed to be trainer for Eintracht Braunschweig , but was suspended because of alcohol problems before he started his service. He then coached the clubs Preußen Münster , Tennis Borussia Berlin , VfR Heilbronn and SC Fortuna Köln in the 2nd Bundesliga . He also ran some retail stores in the region in and around Cologne.

He and his wife Sigrid died on July 25, 2000 in the crash of the Concorde near Paris.
