Jane Tilden
Jane Tilden (born November 16, 1910 in Aussig , Austria-Hungary ; † August 27, 2002 in St. Johann in Tirol ; actually Marianne Wilhelmine Tuch ) was an Austrian actress .
Life
Jane Tilden, whose real name is Marianne Wilhelmine Tuch, was born as the daughter of Karl and Maria Tuch. Her brother Walter Tuch later became a cameraman . In 1930 she was discovered by Max Reinhardt and appeared on several stages. In 1934 she came to the Vienna Volkstheater . In 1936 she got her first film role in confetti . In 1938 she played under the direction of Viktor Tourjansky in the film comedy The Blue Fox next to Zarah Leander the second female leading role. When the war broke out, she moved to Switzerland, where she played minor supporting roles in 14 films until 1945. After her return to Austria, her appearance on the screen and stage increased. She had engagements at the Raimundtheater and the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna as well as in Berlin at the Theater am Kurfürstendamm . From 1956 until her retirement in 1977 Tilden was a member of the Vienna Burgtheater ensemble . She also had appearances in various television games and series.
She was married three times: with the chamber actor Erik Frey , with the composer Alexander Steinbrecher and with the export merchant John Joseph Blackburne. The daughter Franziska comes from the second marriage and the daughter Jane Antoinette from the third. Her daughter Franziska played a number of roles in Austrian films of the 50s and 60s under the stage name Frances Martin .
Jane Tilden died on August 27, 2002 as great-grandmother in the nursing home in St. Johann in Tirol and was buried in the local cemetery in Kitzbühel .
In 2006, Jane-Tilden-Gasse in Vienna- Floridsdorf (21st district) was named after her.
