Regina on the steps is a television series of ZDF , on a novel presentation of utta danella based. The main role of Regina was played by Katja Riemann , for whom this role represented the breakthrough.

The ZDF co-production with ORF was filmed in 1989-90 under the direction of Bernd Fischerauer . The script for the series wrote Barbara Piazza . The music comes from Michael Rüggeberg . The German first broadcast took place from January to March 1992 on ZDF and there were other broadcasts on ORF and 3sat . In 2007 the miniseries was also released as a 3-part DVD set.

The 22-year-old Regina came illegally from Dresden to the West in 1955. In Munich she takes a room to sublet. Martin Scholz, a former prisoner of war, also has to orientate himself in Germany. The two get to know each other by chance. Soon afterwards both found a job: Martin with Lore Roth in a gas station and Regina with the photographer Jakob Brunnhuber. There she is discovered by Janos for test shots. Regina becomes a model and gets to know a lot about the world.
