Michael Rüggeberg

Michael Rüggeberg (born December 27, 1941 in Bad Aibling ) is a German drama composer .

Life

Michael Rüggeberg studied composition with Günter Bialas , oboe with Manfred Clement and conducting with Adolf Carl Jess Mennerich at the Musikhochschule in Munich from 1959 to 1964 . In 1962 he was awarded the Richard Strauss Scholarship. He then completed studies in film and theater music with Mark Lothar . He also worked as an oboist in orchestras and as a soloist.

In 1969 he was employed as Peter Fischer's assistant at the Münchner Kammerspiele and taught acting singing at the Otto Falckenberg School .

He has worked as a guest composer at several German theaters, at the Hamburger Schauspielhaus , Thalia Theater Hamburg , Schillertheater Berlin , Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus , Schauspiel Köln , Theater Bonn , Schauspielhaus Bochum , Staatstheater Kassel , Deutsches Theater Göttingen as well as at the Burgtheater and the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna and at the Schauspielhaus Zurich .

He has been the accompanist for Helmuth Lohner since 1972 and had numerous appearances with him at the Salzburg Festival , the Vienna Festival , the Prague Spring and the festive days in East Berlin. Tours have taken him through Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

Rüggeberg has been a freelance artist since 1980 and moved to Salzburg, where he set up an electronic music studio and subsequently worked with Dieter Wedel and Bernd Fischerauer and created compositions for film and television. 1986–1996 he expanded his studio to include a digital mixer with hard disk recording and professional computer music notation .

In 1987 he was engaged as conductor of the operetta Orpheus in der Unterwelt with a one-year guest contract at the Theater Bonn, in 1989 he directed the performances of the operetta La Périchole at the Schillertheater Berlin and was invited to the Edinburgh Festival with this production .

In 1989 Rüggeberg became a freelancer for the music publisher Max Hieber . In cooperation with the publisher and producer Uli Seibert, sheet music, books and music were produced for young people, like young people love music , Helmut Lohner tells operas , the carnival of the animals and, from 1997, multimedia instrumentation. In 2001, the commissioned composition A House full of Music , a story for children with a lot of music, was also published on CD for the music publisher Schott .

Since 1994 he has also worked as a post-producer for Bayerischer Rundfunk ( Dr. Martin and Dr. Schwarz from the Doctors series ). In 1997/1998 Rüggeberg completed an apprenticeship as a multimedia producer at the SAE Institute .

From 1997 he was closely associated with the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna for several years , where he first worked on guest contracts and from 2004 as musical director accompanied The Threepenny Opera and productions by Herbert Föttinger such as Mein Nestroy and Das vierte Gebot .

In 2005 Rüggeberg composed the incidental music for The Imagined Sick at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, directed by Helmut Lohner.

Since 2007 he has been a freelance artist again. From January 13, 2011 his production Campiello ran in the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna.

In 2013 his production "Musenmusik für 1-10 Hackbretter" ran. The performance took place at the Bruckner University in Linz.

In 2014 the Concertino for 4 tenor dulcimer he composed took place again at the Bruckner University in Linz.

In 2015 the concert for tenor dulcimer and string orchestra, which he composed, took place at the Bruckner University in Linz.

In 2016 the Odyssey project for two tenor chopping boards and electro acoustics also ran at the Bruckner University in Linz.
