Tara Morice (born June 23, 1964 in Hobart , Tasmania ) is an Australian actress , singer and dancer .

Life

Tara Morice was born in the Tasmanian capital Hobart . She spent her childhood in Sydney , Alice Springs and Adelaide . She studied Australian History and English at the Australian National University and graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art in 1987 .

She made her first appearance in front of a camera in the dance film Strictly Ballroom, directed by director Baz Luhrmann in 1992 . In addition to leading actor Paul Mercurio, she played the leading female role of Fran. It earned her a BAFTA nomination for Best Actress. The song Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper , which appears in the film, was sung by Morice with Mark Williams . Morice has appeared in a variety of Australian television series and feature films such as Candy and Moulin Rouge . She also works as a stage actress. As early as 1988 she was a member of Baz Luhrmann's theater group "Six Years Old", which performed "Stricly Ballroom" as a play before it was made into a film.

In 2008, Tara Morice directed and produced the documentary My Biggest Fan for the first time , the content of which is her correspondence and friendship with Mildred Levine, an American grandmother with whom Morice has been connected since "Strictly Ballroom" in 1992. She also plays the role of a dance teacher in "Dance Academy Dance Your Dream", an Australian television series.

Tara Morice is married to actor and screenwriter Craig Pearce and has a daughter named Ondine.
