Herbert Föttinger
Herbert Föttinger (born July 25, 1961 in Vienna ) is an Austrian actor and theater director . He is the director of the theater in der Josefstadt .
Life
Herbert Föttinger took private acting lessons from Peter P. Jost and founded a youth theater group in the Waldviertel at the age of 16 . From 1984 he played at the Städtebundtheater im Deutschen Hof an der Saale , at the Landestheater Detmold (1985–1987), at the Stadttheater Hildesheim (1987–1988), at the Schauspielhaus Graz (1988–1990) and at the Wiener Volkstheater (1990–1993).
In 1993 Föttinger became a member of the theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna. He made his debut as Strizzi Alfred in Ödön von Horváth's Tales from the Vienna Woods in a production by Karlheinz Hackl .
In 1996 Föttinger directed Die Bernfeld-Revue (Stadttheater Baden, Rabenhof Theater Vienna) for the first time. Later he worked several times with success as a director at the Theater in der Josefstadt and spoke of his directorial debut in this context, but did not mention his actual first production .
In 1998 he was awarded the Vienna Actors' Ring.
Since the 2004/05 season, Föttinger has also worked as a director at the Josefstadt. His debut was Nestroys Kampl with Helmuth Lohner and Otto Schenk. Numerous productions followed.
In the 2006/2007 season, Föttinger took over the management of the theater in der Josefstadt as the successor to Helmuth Lohner . Exactly 15 months after his designation as Artistic Director, he opens the season on September 14, 2006 with the world premiere of Peter Turrini's Mein Nestroy .
In 2013 he staged Beethoven's Fidelio at the Theater an der Wien , his first opera production, conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt. On September 1, 2016, the world premiere of Ödön von Horváth's tragedy Nobody in the Theater an der Josefstadt was staged .
Herbert Föttinger is married to the actress Sandra Cervik and they have a son.

- In December 2016 he was awarded the Johann-Nestroy-Ring of the city of Bad Ischl.
