Bernard Slade
Bernard Slade (born May 2, 1930 in St. Catharines , Ontario , † October 30, 2019 in Beverly Hills ) was a Canadian playwright and screenwriter .
Slade initially worked as a playwright in Canada. In the mid-1960s, he went to Hollywood and wrote screenplays for television series. In this role he developed the popular television series The Flying Nun and The Partridge Family . In 1975 his play Same Time, Next Year premiered and was very successful with Charles Grodin and Ellen Burstyn in the lead roles. Slade also wrote the scripts for the film versions for this piece as well as for Tribute and Romantic Comedy .
Slade was married to actress Jill Foster for a total of 64 years until her death in 2017. He died of Lewy body dementia in October 2019 at the age of 89 .
