occupation

Oberwachtmeister Borck is a German movie from 1955 by Gerhard Lamprecht , who hereby presented his last production with a game plot. The main roles were played by Gerhard Riedmann , Annemarie Düringer and Ingrid Andree . This remake of the Carl Froelich classic Oberwachtmeister Schwenke , created a good 20 years earlier, is a film adaptation of the novel of the same name (1933) by Hans Joachim von Reitzenstein .

action

In contrast to the film Oberwachtmeister Schwenke , this story, which was set up in the early post-war years, does not take place in Berlin, but in Hamburg. Schwenke is called Borck here and, as in the original, is a correct, young police officer who is valued by his superiors and loved by the neighborhood, who always has a keen eye and an open ear for the needs of ordinary citizens. Especially the ladies adore him, including the buxom bar hostess Fanny Himmelreich and the still very young and pretty Käthe Sperling. One day, Sergeant Borck got the suspicion of having been bribed. The accusation is: favoritism in office. Erna Lucht, who has made a living as a maid for the wholesaler Willy Staade, has not only fallen in love with Borck, but also has a lot of trouble on her neck. She is a stranger in Hamburg and is put under massive pressure by a bad guy, a certain Karl Franzek, whom she still knows from her old home.

Franzek knows that Erna's boss Staade is involved in dark business, in which Karl's own boss, the beefy freight forwarder Süßkind, is involved. In order to be successful with his blackmail, he draws the well-behaved Erna into his machinations. In her need, she turns to Borck, who invites her to the police ball. On this occasion, it becomes clear to both of them that they love each other. In order to carry out his plan, Franzek sends incriminating evidence to the police and ensures that Borck is suspended from duty. Now he has to investigate on his own to help Erna and put the villain down. Since Erna steadfastly refuses to help Franzek, Franzek finally kills her and dumps the body in the port of Hamburg. The suspended Borck is immediately suspected of being Erna's murderer. He now goes all out and can finally rehabilitate himself in court. The villain Franzek is exposed as the culprit. Sergeant Borck is allowed to return to his job and his territory.

Reviews

Der Spiegel judged: “In the remake of“ Oberwachtmeisters Schwenke ”... directed by Gerhard Lamprecht, the criminal logic turned out to be a little less solid than the description of the milieu and the presentation. Gerhard Riedmann is respectable as a certified Borck and Annemarie Düringer portrays a depressed and frightened girl convincingly. "

At Filmdienst it is said: "Simple and delicately staged cinema in the style of the 50s."
